”Faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. For by it the men of old gained approval” Hebrews 11:1-2.
“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17
“What use is it, my brethren, if a man says he has faith, but he has no works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food, and one of you says to them, ” Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary fortheir body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.” James 2:14-17
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:8-10
Faith is the vehicle and grace is the fuel while works are the proof that the car runs healthily. Faith is the first in Peter’s list of characteristics which supplies moral excellence, but if you don’t have faith in God than any attempt to live a morally excellent life is in vain.
Just about anything that you do that solidifies your confidence in God is going to positively affect your level of faith.
Meditation on the sovereignty of God in all situations is one of the biggest faith builders for me.
Journaling everyday situations and attributing their outcome to God has been the practice of believers throughout the ages–just look at the book of Acts.
